THE HOUSE
Chapel Cove was built in 2025 with the water in mind: a bright, open great room on the main floor, a walk-out lower level made for hanging out, and a screened porch that becomes everyone's favorite spot after dark.
• Floor-to-ceiling windows over the cove and a gas fireplace
• Kitchen with a quartz island (seats 4), gas range and coffee station
• Dining table for 8 by the windows
• Main deck off the kitchen with a gas grill and outdoor dining
• Screened porch with string lights and a cedar ceiling, off the primary suite
• No-step entry on the main level
• Wi-Fi fast enough for video calls and streaming in every room
• Pack ’n Play and high chair provided
WHERE EVERYONE SLEEPS (sleeps 10)
Built for two families or a multigenerational group: the primary suite on the main level, kids in the bunk room downstairs, and a den where the teenagers can disappear. Four bedrooms including a loft, spread across three levels so the group has room to spread out.
• Primary bedroom (main floor): king bed, opens to the screened porch; private bath with soaking tub, walk-in shower and grab bars
• Loft (upstairs): twin trundle that works as two twins or one king, plus a desk with a water view. It has a door, but the openings to the great room below close with drapes rather than walls, so expect some sound and light from the main floor.
• Queen bedroom (lower level): sliding doors to the lower deck
• Bunk room (lower level): two sets of bunks, four twins
• Den (lower level): queen sleeper sofa, smart TV, beverage bar with mini fridge and microwave
• Bathrooms: 2 full baths plus a half bath on the main floor
OUTSIDE
The lower level walks straight out to a covered deck, and from there it's a short walk across the lawn to the shoreline.
• Two kayaks, a canoe and life jackets for all ages
• Shoreline fire pit with stump seating
• Covered lower deck with lounge chairs and a table for 6
• Outdoor shower for rinsing off after the beach
• Cornhole, croquet and pickleball
• Deer, turtles, herons and sandhill cranes are regular visitors
Chapel Cove isn’t only a summer house. Fall brings color on the Ice Age Trail and quiet mornings on the cove; in winter the state forest grooms trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, Alpine Valley is 24 minutes away for downhill, and the gas fireplace and soaking tub are waiting when you get back.
ABOUT THE WATER
The cove at the house is non-motorized, which is exactly why it's so quiet. It's its own body of water and does not connect to Whitewater Lake by boat.
• On the cove: kayaks, canoes and paddleboards only, with good fishing right off the shoreline (bring a pole)
• Whitewater Lake: the public boat launch is a quarter mile away for boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing, and walleye, pike and bass fishing. Trailer your own boat or rent one at Scenic Ridge.
• Swimming: at the Scenic Ridge beach, a 10-minute walk, with guest passes included. The cove itself is for paddling and fishing, not swimming. The state forest's public beach is a short drive.
